Residential Homes | Curriculum Wolsdon Street School aims to provide a balanced, relevant education that is shaped to individuals, so that they can reach the level of achievement dictated by their personal characteristics. Individual assessment and sympathetic psychometric testing enables the school to respond in detail to the needs of the individual when appropriate. Wolsdon Street School is a non-denominational school, although we are supportive of students in their chosen beliefs and religions. Wolsdon Street School uses a 24 hour holistic curriculum, where it is observed that all experiences during the day are educational and are recorded as such. Given this; the school works with a six weekly updated IEP and the attached residential homes carry out a monthly Placement Plan update which together optimises the education and care for each individual. Wolsdon Street School will ensure that as much of the National Curriculum is taught to the appropriate level where possible. Where National curriculum study is not considered appropriate the student will be assessed against P-levels and a programme of work devised to begin to address their skills development. The school will also use a curriculum which allows achievement in accredited courses such as ASDAN as an alternative. Those students who have shown or developed the ability to work at higher levels will be entered into courses where Entry level or GCSE subjects can be studied. Life skills and preparation for adulthood are also applied on an individual basis, and in some cases preparation for employment may be applied. The evaluation of each students work is accurately reported and is used in IEP updates and presented at multi-agency reviews to assess each students progress.
